As part of the Kwéyòl Heritage Month, the Alliance Française de Saint Lucie, will be hosting “Calabash in Splendor” from Thursday, October 12th to Tuesday, October 24th, 2017.
The theme for this year’s Kwéyòl Heritage Month Exhibition event is “Calabash in Splendor”, an effort to celebrate our Caribbean calabashes and ‘calabash-ness’. The Calabash display will feature the works of calabash artists, crafts persons, painters and sculptors from Saint Lucia and Martinique.
The exhibition will take place at the Pyramid building, Pointe Seraphine, Castries, from October 12th to 24th, 2017, during the opening hours (Monday – Thursday: 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Friday & Saturday: 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) Alliance Française de Saint Lucie, the Saint Lucia Archeological and Historical Society (SLAHS) and People Engaged in Your Interest (PÉYI) have decided to highlight Saint Lucia’s National Tree – Crescentia Cujete, locally known as Calabash Tree or Kalbas.
The effort is spearheaded by the above organizers which are devoted to informing and educating the community on the importance of our national symbols.
