In 2013 the Cultural Development Foundation made some big changes to the annual National Arts Festival, rebranding it under the title ‘Artreach, Colours and Contours, Rhythm & Rhyme’ and taking it to 7 communities around the island. Arts exhibitions and shows were held in each community making the Festival a truly National event. Now as 2013 comes to a close, the CDF is well underway with plans for 2014, once again bringing Artreach around this island.
This time, the Festival is slated to take place during the month of February in 4 communities, culminating in a Festival Week in March that will highlight the best of the regional arts and culture and bring everything together with a grande finale.
The four identified host communities are Babonneau, Dennery, Laborie and Anse la Raye and aspects of the cultural and arts scene that these communities are known for will be the central focus for each regional event with participation from the wider surrounding communities as well.
Each Community Festival will take place on a weekend during the month of February allowing spectators from around the island to participate in all the events. But there will also be opportunities for training in various genres at various levels from fun and introductory workshops through skills development to master classes, ensuring that the National Arts Festival helps develop the arts and artists as well as promoting the wealth of local talent.
Further details will be released during coming weeks as CDF staff meet and plan with the community representatives and groups; in the meantime, the CDF would like interested persons to email info@cdfstlucia.org or call 452 1859, or visit the facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Cultural.Development.Foundation or website www.cdfstlucia.org and follow this link to the online registration form https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1VYWAvnGlYdErQPoA0PzM2C5vT6paK5uLqCsj2p0IGwQ/viewform
