Celebrating the music of Charles Cadet

Lennie Stone began playing the steelpan at the age of eight.  During his teen years, he developed a love for the acoustic guitar and singing.  He played with bands, “Traffic Lights” and “Sun-setters”, among others at many of the hotels around Saint Lucia.  This, Lennie did for many years, including a three (3) year stint on the Cunard Countess. cadet poster sm lo res

However his fondness and preference for solo performances would eventually become evident.  In the formative years of his music career, Lennie had been approached by local promoter Terry Wilson, who had taken notice of him during a small public gathering.  Terry would later invite Lennie to perform at “The Bitter End”, a popular restaurant owned by George Odlum.  It was during one of his performances there, that Lennie Stone was approached by Charles Cadet, who was at the time looking for “a voice” for one of his compositions and a lasting professional relationship was born.  Their working relationship has produced well-loved Saint Lucian classics, notably, “The Nature of the World” and “Poinsettia Blossoms”.

The well-known piece, “Poinsettia Blossoms” is one of the pieces that Lennie Stone will perform in honour of cultural icon, Charles Cadet on Sunday, May 4th, 2015 at the National Cultural Centre.
