Charles Cadet launches poetry collection

The Honorable Charles Cadet has published his first collection of poems titled “At the rusting gate and other poems.” Mr. Cadet is well known as the composer of many popular St. Lucian songs including Poinsettia Blossoms, Banjo Man, Chanson Marianne and others. The composer collaborated for many years with Roderick Walcott in the production of his musical dramas.

The publication of “At the rusting gate” is made possible with the generous support of The Bank of St. Lucia and the Pat Charles Endowment for the Arts. The book is being produced by the Document Centre of J.E. Bergasse, and is designed by St. Lucian artist Raphael Philip. Cover art is by MacDonald Dixon who also edited the collection.

A presentation was made recently to Mr. Cadet at his home of cheques from the BOSL and the Pat Charles Endowment for the Arts.

“At the rusting gate” will soon be available at local bookstores and other outlets.
