2014 National Arts Festival officially launched and the action begins! Thrilling and stimulating training punctuates the month of March with technique, expression, exploration – The Creative Arts Training Month kicks off to an exciting start with the hosting of the Super Dance Practicum at the National Cultural Center and Christylights Dance Studio in La Clery.
In the week of February 24th to 28th, members of dance groups, dance teachers and students from around the island will be treated to the opportunity to explore and improve their skills through the varied instructional sessions with international dance instructor and dance expert Fred Lasserre of France. During what is expected to be a intensive mix of coaching and practical sessions, participants will receive training in dance choreography and technique of Modern/Contemporary Dance.
Fred Lasserre has coached dancers all around the world – in South Africa, Paris, Barbados, Guyana, New York, Guadeloupe and Slovenia among others and the Cultural Development Foundation is thrilled to have him here as part of this year’s National Arts Festival.
Coming off the heels of the Jete competition hosted by the Creative Industries department of the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries, and recognizing the enthusiasm surrounding dance performance in St. Lucia, the CDF continues to advance the skills of dancers through training and development programmes.
All interested dancers and dance instructors are invited to take advantage of this opportunity. Email for registration info: jaugustin.cdfstlucia@gmail.org or call 452 1859 and ask for the Training Department
