This year’s grand celebration for the feast of Saint Marguerite-Marie Alacoque takes place in Castries. The celebration starts off with the traditional church service at the Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Conception which will be conducted by Father Cecil Goodman.
Music accompaniment will be provided by a Folk group with vocals by Nintus Magre.
Participating adult groups are Dennery, Dernière Rivière, Aux Lyons, Vieux Fort, Laborie and Soufriere. The group from Soufriere is the most recently formed group and is the initiative of the Saint Lucia National Trust Southern Chapter.
Some school groups will join the celebration this year and they include Richfond Combined, Gros Islet Infant, Monchy Combined, Ti Rocher Combined and Ave Maria Infant.
Following the church service, the groups will parade along a designated route which will culminate with a spectacle at the Derek Walcott Square. The procession will start from the church up Micoud Street, turn left unto Bridge Street, down Brazil Street and turn left to Laborie Street to enter the Derek Walcott Square where the groups will make presentations which they have promised will be engaging and entertaining.
