Highlights from our 2019 Calendar
Dancer, dance educator, choreographer, Virginia Alexander [SLMM, MBE] was an avid dance tutor who worked tirelessly to advance the artform among young dancers. In 1972, she created the Les Enfants Junior Dance Troupe, which began working at the Ave Maria School and the Castries Parish Centre, offering free classes to children ages 6 to 12 years.
She later joined the Department of Culture which later became the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) where she continued training dancers and planning dance recitals and concerts.
Her accolades are many: among them are the
M&C Fine Arts Award (1984)
Saint Lucia Medal of Merit Gold (1990)
Outstanding Woman Award for her contribution to national development in the field of Arts & Culture (1989)
Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) (2004)
