This year, the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) is thrilled to be teaming up with the St. Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB), Jazz and Arts Festival to present Artists Market, on Saturday May 10th on the Rodney Bay Strip from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. With its renewed vision to showcase St. Lucia and Saint Lucians as the unique people we are, it is hoped that this year’s activity will facilitate further synergies among artists and promoters of the arts.
Exhibits will be showcased and patrons will have the opportunity to purchase from the wide array of pieces on display. Artists will also be engaging in mini-“classes”: demonstrations of the processes involved in crafting some of their work.
This occasion will afford public the pleasure of interacting directly with the artists, thus giving visitors to the market an insight into the creation of the final art pieces and handmade works and an appreciation of the effort which goes into what is sometimes a rather elaborate procedure.
Entertainment for the duration of the event will include masqueraders, street theatre, steel pan as well as a few surprise elements.
Consequently, the road will be closed to vehicular traffic from the Mall entrances to the Harbour condominiums as booths will be erected along the pavements on the Baywalk Mall side.
Artists are invited to register their interest in participating by calling the Cultural Development Foundation 452 1859, or sending an email to info@cdfstlucia.org and completing the registration process by Monday May 5th , 2014.
The work of Cultural Development Foundation is to provide the stage and the canvas, the lights, the paints, the writers’ room for the people of Saint Lucia to tell our cultural story, past, present and future.
