The youth of St Lucia are creative, engaging, and authentic and has good taste, likes design and fun. They as a result are producing and have the potential to create exceptional work which can take its place in the Creative Arts platform of St Lucia.
This philosophy is the rational for the ‘KweArt’ festival, a space to showcase the new generation of Lucian artistes. The festival is also a fundraiser for the Folk Research Centre. This festival is a Folk Research Centre and D. Simenel Productions project.
The Nobel Laureate Week Committee has made youth development as well as promoting artistic enterprise and talent, major components of its activities. In keeping with this and acknowledging the Visual arts talents of Honourable Derek Walcott, KweArt will be launched as a part of the 2015 Nobel Laureate Week activities.
