The Laborie Pan Project and Labowi Promotions invite you to the final concert of the 2017 Laborie Steel Pan and Brazilian Workshop, at 5pm on Sunday 15 January at the panyard of the Laborie Steel Pan, Citrus Grove, Laborie.
Tutored by renowned composer, band leader and virtuoso performer Andy Narell and by Director of Percussion Studies at Eastern Kentucky University Jason Koontz, this workshop has brought to Laborie 20 participants from Sweden, the USA and France. The workshop explores music for steel orchestra, various styles of Brazilian drumming, and the confluence of these two musical traditions. For the young members of the Laborie Steel Pan who are taking part in some of the sessions, this workshop is a unique opportunity to learn from and share with foreign players, and to display their own talent.
Additionally, the second edition of Paint the Village, a visual arts festival that brings together professional and amateur artists, young and old, residents or visitors to participate in a collective sharing of work and critique takes place from Thursday January 26th to Saturday January 28th in Laborie.
