The Folk Research Centre (FRC) in collaboration with the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) and the Events Company St. Lucia (ECSL) will be launching Arts and Creole Heritage Month on Sunday September 24, 2017 at the Vieux-Fort Square. The Day begins with a Kwéyòl church service at the Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Vieux-Fort at 11:00am.
Following the service will be a Séwénal (parade) of Creole Groups from the church to the square. An official ceremony will kick off the launch at 1:00pm. The programme for the day will comprise entertainment by Creole groups such as: Avòtsèvis, Secret Band, Eastern Folk Band, La Wòz èk Magwit, Silver Shadow Dancers, and Les Danseurs Traditionelles. The programme also includes the display of Creole technologies, a farmers’ market and vending of Creole foods and refreshment.
All stakeholders are expected to be represented at the launch including producers of the various events, the four host communities of Creole Heritage Month and Jounen Kwéyòl, Sponsors, artists, the Minister of Culture together with officials of her Ministry and the media among others.
The FRC is pleased to extend an invitation to the media and the public to attend the proceedings.
