THE HILL COMES ALIVE WITH THE SWEET SOUNDS OF STEEL PAN DURING EASTER BREAK

Castries, April 6th, 2022 – The Cultural Development Foundation in its quest to strengthen capacity and output in the creative industry and create opportunities for the development of the arts will host an Easter Steel Pan Training which will run from April 11th – 22nd 2022 at its Conference Room. This workshop is an extension of its summer 2021 Steel Pan Programme and will engage beneficiaries from that cohort.

Prominent music specialist, Gregory Piper and consummate steel pan facilitator and player Hausan “Zoro” Griffith will facilitate the Introduction to Music Theory and Practical respectively. Participants will augment their skills, techniques and knowledge in the artform.

With a piqued interest in the artform amongst the youth island wide, the CDF through the support of the National Lotteries Authority have been able to revive the steel pan. The CDF will continue to strive towards achieving its mandate through training and development of creatives and artforms in Saint Lucia.

The Steel Pan Development programme will climax on April 22nd at the National Cultural Centre with an exposition of skills to an audience.
