The Msgr. Patrick Anthony Folk Research Centre (FRC) is calling on communities throughout Saint Lucia interested in hosting activities for Creole Heritage Month and Jouné Kwéyòl 2018 to send their proposals to the FRC no later than July 1, 2018.
The celebration of Creole Heritage Month and Jouné Kwéyòl (Creole Day) in Saint Lucia has developed since its inception in 1984 into the biggest cultural extravaganza. The festival has broader impact across communities and social sectors than any other calendar event in Saint Lucia. This year 2018, marks 35 years since the declaration of Jounen Kwéyòl Entònasyonnal (International Creole Day). However, the FRC has celebrated Jouné Kwéyòl on 34 occasions. In 2010 the Jouné Kwéyòl was completely washed out by hurricane Tomas.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “FRC VIVAN KWÉYÒL LA VIVAN”. This theme is chosen by FRC in its resolve to stay alive despite the immense tragedy that befell the organization in March 2018.
Proposal should be sent to:
