School is almost out – parents and children are frantically making summer plans and the Cultural Development Foundation along with the Ministry of Social Transformation has an awesome solution: The Youth Summer Arts Platform, a training programme exploring the beauty and power of the arts.
The highly interactive and exciting programme will run from July 23rd until August 15th, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Participants will be provided with lots of opportunities for creative expression and to develop their skills in a variety areas which delve into visual and performing arts. The facets of dance, theatre arts, photography and film, creative writing, craft, art and drumming will be coached and taught with the aim of selecting cast members for the annual theatrical production.
Preparations have begun in earnest with visits to a number of Secondary and Primary Schools around the island to inform prospective participants about the programme and to give them the opportunity to register. Visits to La Croix Maingot Primary, Marchand Primary, Leon Hess Secondary, Micoud Secondary, Castries Comprehensive and St. Mary’s College among others have been scheduled and will take place within the next two weeks.
With just twenty one (21) days left before the start of this artistic training explosion, final plans are being made. Interested persons are invited to call the CDF at 457 9021 or email Jana Augustin on jaugustin.cdfstlucia@gmail.com for further information or to register their participation.
See you this summer!
